My favorite local destinations to fish range from the Wells Harbor breakwater to the Pier in Old Orchard Beach. One of my favorite all-time spots to fish is right next to Walkers Point, home of the Bush family, because how many people get to say the fish in the former President’s backyard?

Interview with the Captain — Hardtop Sport Fishing

About the Boat

At what marina do you keep your boat on the river?
The Breakwater Inn and Spa

Why did you choose to buy a Clearwater?
I chose the Clearwater because of the layout of the deck. I followed the boat for 2 years online dreaming “some day I’ll have a boat like that.” The dealer I bought her from was the closest Clearwater dealer to me.

What other kinds of boats did you consider before purchasing this model (and how did they compare)?
I considered a few other boats from Pro Line, Cobia, Sea Hunt, Reef Runner, and Mako. None of them had what I really wanted in my price range.

How did you come to find/locate her before purchasing?

I found the Louise T. on boats.com

Who introduced you to boating/sailing/cruising?
My dad and close family friends introduced me to sailing as a kid. My dad got our family our first powerboat for the river behind the house in 2001, then another boat in 2003. A close family friend got me into ocean boating and fishing in 2013 and it has turned into a business and way of life since.

What kinds of boat(s) have you owned in the past (or is this your first boat)?
My first boat was a small sailboat when I was a kid. Then the powerboats came. The first powerboat we had was a 14′ Starcraft we got from my grandfather. Then I got my childhood dreamboat… a 13′ Boston Whaler, which I still have and love. My next boat was a 23 foot 1987 Wellcraft Fisherman.

What features do you like most about your boat?
What drew me to the boat was the size and location of the live well. The T-top is also awesome, it makes enough shade for multiple people to hide from the sun.

What features/improvements have you added, or you plan to add to your boat?
I added the Simrad navigation system when I purchased the boat. I am planning on adding more lights to the boat to allow for night adventures, upgrading the sound system at some point, and adding more rod holders.

What is the biggest challenge you have experienced in servicing your boat?
The biggest challenge in servicing my boat has been getting parts, the closest Honda dealer is in Portland. It is just slightly inconvenient.

Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a Clearwater (or any type of cruiser) like yours?
Research, Research, Research, and then sea trial.

What is the story behind the boat’s name?
My boat is named after my Grandmother, my last boat was the Louise Hope. I decided to keep the name Louise in the name.

Your Boating Adventures

Where have you cruised to and/or what are your favorite destinations? OR What are your favorite fishing spots nearby (without divulging secrets of course!)?
