Sea Clearly, Pursuit 33′

Interview with the Captain —Daniel Levy

Why did you choose to buy this particular boat and what else did you consider?
We chose this style vessel for the ease of boating that we do on the Great South Bay. A dual console gives you the best of many worlds in boating. Spacious seating, plenty of power to go where you want to go, day trip amenities such as bathroom, storage, refrigerator, grill, ease of running a boat in shallower water when needed.  I chose Pursuit for its brand, reputation, craftsmanship, customer service, and most importantly, the ride.

What boats have you previously owned?
Robalo 235 walk around, Wellcraft Coastal 290, Palm Beach 235 CC.

What are the features you like most about your boat?
The craftsmanship, the ride in the rough water, accessories, and all of the top notch amenities.

What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
We added a faux teak floor made out of soft flooring that snaps in and out of the boat, and adds great comfort as well as style.

Where have you traveled with your boat?/what do you have planned?
We have stayed locally as of now, however plan on heading into Manhattan, as well as Block Island this summer.

What is the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
Honestly, finding a mechanic to work on and service our engines.

Who first introduced you to boating?
My parents, who were huge boaters since I was able to walk. They sold their last boat a few years ago – a Chris Craft Catalina 42. Now they boat with us when visiting NY.

Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a Pursuit like yours?
Yes, do your homework, meet with local dealers and hit the boat shows so you can run the boats you are interested in. We were lucky to have a neighbor a town over who had this boat.  He came to our house and took us out for a ride and actually let me run the boat. That’s how we chose the boat we are in. The Whaler was our second choice.

What’s the story behind the boat’s name?
The boats name is “Sea Clearly”, as my wife and I are both eye doctors.

Any recent boating-related purchase you’ve been enjoying (e.g. product/tool/equipment etc)?
Yes, we have a new blender for the boat to make mud slides, as well as a new back anchor with a new chain and rope for when we go the beach on Fire Island.

Do you have any other notable resources you use (apps, devices, etc)?
We researched this boat online and boat forums, boats.com/Yacht World.com/Boat Trader.com
