About the Boat
Why did you choose to buy a Release?
The dealer is intown and I liked the looks & the layout of the boat.
What other kinds of boats did you consider before buying this particular model (and how did they compare)?
Eastern, Sea-Pro, & Aquasport. The Release I thought gave me a bigger bang for the buck.
How did you come to find/locate her before purchasing (and what’s the boat’s history if you know it)?
I bought the boat new from Coastline Marine here in Marblehead.
What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
Simple, clean lines and a comfortable layout. I have no plans of adding anything at this time. The boat’s set up with everything I need.
What are the features you like most about your boat?
Forward casting platform and the onboard head.
Who first introduced you to boating/sailing?
My gramp when I was four got me into boating/fishing.
Do you belong to a yacht club or other boating/sailing organizations?
I do not.
What boats have you previously owned?
A 1972 19” Aquasport. An awesome vessel!
How do you typically use your boat over the summer, and where do you go?
I do a lot of flyfishing off of Marblehead, and as a family we travel to Misery Island often for day trips.
What is the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
So far none. The dealer is in town if I need anything beyond what I can do.
Do you have any notable boating resources you use?
I was in the marine diesel engine repair business for 32 years and I now teach it at Marblehead High School. So, I’m pretty self-reliant. Coastline Marine handles any work I don’t do.
Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a Release like yours?
I think having a good, reliable dealer relationship is key for when any problems/issues arise.
What’s the story behind the boat’s name?
It’s my last name and being on the water relieves any of life’s stresses for me.
