Interview with the Captain — Sean McHugh

Why did you choose to buy a Back Cove and what else did you consider?
We did not consider any other model. We met Andrew Savage (Boston Yacht Sales) on the Corinthian deck a few years ago through our friend Eric Cressy. He matched us up with the perfect boat based on our boating habits.

What boats have you previously owned?
23′ Eastern Seaway, 23′ WA Polar, Grady White Marlin 30′ and a Grady White 33′ Express

What are the features you like most about your boat?

Ride and Comfort, Helm and Cabin air, the Easy Dock system, and the Sure Shade awning.

 

What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
None, it’s perfect.

What is the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
No issues at all. Marblehead Trading takes care of it all for us.

Who first introduced you to boating?
My mother who sailed Townies.

Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a Back Cove like yours?
Yes, go direct to Andrew Savage and if you choose a Back Cove or Sabre request a factory tour. It’s awesome! We visited just prior to the decking for Imus. She is hull #27. We were so grateful to Andrew for making this happen…we allowed Boston Yacht Sales to show Imus at the “in the water boat” show in Hingham in 2018, and also to be filmed for a segment of BoatTEST. She’s famous!

What’s the story behind the boat’s name?

I was a huge Imus in the morning fan and we owned a large Black Lab named Imus.
