About the boat
Why did you choose to buy this particular boat and what else did you consider?
We chose Supra because we wanted a watersports towboat with the feel of a luxury car. This was our first inboard flight, and we did not want to sacrifice comfortability, speed and performance. Supra was one of the few options we considered, and ultimately, we found that the Supra had the most comfortable interior and the best wake, at the time.
What boats have you previously owned?
1997 Maxum 1900 SR
2012 Chaparral 204 Xtreme
What are the features you like most about your boat?
This boat came from the factory with the Worlds Edition Package, we absolutely love the gelcoat scheme. Another great feature this boat has is the Swell surf system that can deploy a surf tab and create a powerful barrel wave on each side of the wake to surf on. Lastly, we have a Z5 Cargo rack that not only holds all of our boards but provides an enormous amount of shade for the boat.
What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
As of right now, the only improvement we have added is an upgraded ballast system. We upgraded our ballast system to twin 1,100 lb bags in the rear locker to push our total ballast to 3,000 lbs. Our future plans include adding a surf pipe and perhaps adding a new surf prop from ACME propellers.
Where have you traveled with your boat?/what do you have planned?
We have travelled to Lake Anna, VA, and Lake Cumberland, KY with our Supra. She normally stays docked on a private lake in Ohio, but the plan is to keep taking it to Lake Cumberland!
What is the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
Our biggest challenge is location from the dealer. Being located south of Cleveland Ohio, our Closest Dealer is in Cincinnati. This is a 4+ hour commute.
On top of that, most of our issues can only be addressed by authorized dealers, which is a moderate issue when the boat is located 4+ hours away from the closest dealer.
Who first introduced you to boating?
My Family. I have been boating since I was born. My family purchased a lake house the year I was born and vowed to keep the family close in the summer. It became the location for the entire family on the weekends. Grandparents/Uncles/Kids…everyone was there, every weekend.
Do you have any advice for those looking to buy a Supra like yours?
The markets are tough right now – I’d recommend getting a model with the z5 Cargo Rack – long days in the sun really beat on the body!
Any recent boating-related purchase you’ve been enjoying (e.g. product/tool/equipment etc)?
We can’t stop buying more surfboards! The family is really loving surfing!
