We are Alex and Cory originally from Quebec, Canada. Since meeting over 10 years ago in Newfoundland, Canada, we have been consumed by an obsession with travel. Living life one semi-retirement at a time then working for a while to do it all over again as soon as possible. Alex traveled the world from a young age with her family. Cory got hooked during our first trip to Central America. After that every dollar we saved contributed to our trip around the world. 8 months of backpacking over 12 countries had us only wanting more. Arriving back in North America broke and already planning our next adventure we came to the conclusion that backpacking was not the best way to travel. We had our sight set on a sailboat. The problem was our budget was small and our dreams were big. After looking for a boat for 2 years we finally found a fixer upper on Lake Erie. We were the proud new owners of a 1981 Hunter 33. She needed some work and the steep learning curve from zero began with a rudder rebuilt but didn't end there. Before slipping the lines not even 16 months later we had replaced the diesel tank, rewired mostly everything, rebuilt our anchor locker, installed a radar, insulated the fridge and outfitted her for cruising complete with solar, a new used headsail, new batteries and new davits to list a few. In 2019 we untied the lines and set sail from Lake Erie, Canada. We cruised the Erie Canal, Hudson River and eventually explored the East Coast of the US. From there it was a hop across to the Bahamas. Only a few days later our little engine died and we spent the next 4 months without it still island hoping and enjoying the sailing life. The pandemic eventually forced us to return to the US where we left SV Wildly Intrepid in storage in Florida. Fortunately we managed to reunite with our little sailboat in January 2021 and after some work we sailed back to the Bahamas for more adventures. The uncertainty and adventure is what drives us and keeps us excited for what is coming around the next bend.
