My wife and I lived in South Boston (Southie) for 12 years before we moved to Marblehead. We were young and free with no children. We lived on M St. It was the last time we were truly relaxed. Joking but serious.”

M ST Edgewater 28′

Interview with the Captain — Dan Cummings

About the Boat

Why did you choose to buy an Edgewater?
I purchased the boat because I wanted something
that could handle a family of 5, had a bathroom for the ladies(wife and 2 daughters) and could handle long hauls to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

What boats have you previously owned?
20 foot Edgewater and cabin cruiser on Lake
Winnipesaukee growing up.

What other kinds of boats did you consider before buying this model?
Regulator, Pursuit, Gradys etc. Those are all awesome boats. I just fell in love with the custom white painted engines and the light blue hull when I was searching.

What are the features you like most about your boat?
Definitely the big bow. She cuts through the roughest of seas and the kids can still feel comfortable.

What features/improvements have you added or do you plan to add?
Not much. We’ve added
toys for kids like the giant west marine water mat. We head to sand dollar cove a lot and the
kids enjoy playing on that.

How do you typically use your boat over the summer, and where do you go?
Every summer we
go to the vineyard. That’s our happy place. Love boating around there as well as the North Shore. Having 3 young kids, we don’t fish as much as I’d like but that will change as the kids get older.

What the biggest challenge you have in servicing your boat?
Candidly, I couldn’t tell you. Mark
Ryan at Ryan marine has taken care of boat since I bought it and it still runs like brand new. I’m sure that will change as the boat ages but right now it’s been smooth sailing.

Do you have any advice for those looking to buy an Edgewater?
Make sure your wife is happy with it. Enough said.

What’s the story behind the boat’s name?
My wife and I lived in South Boston(Southie) for 12
years before we moved to Marblehead. We were young and free with no children. We lived on M St. It was the last time we were truly relaxed. Joking but serious.
